Friday Favourites

There may not be a pot of gold under this rainbow but it certainly would not be a disappointment to come across. No, this beautiful art installation is not the doing of a very creative and talented leprechaun, but rather of artist Seb Preschoux. Preschoux creates these magical installations with string, a challenging medium as his workspace is a live environment, where trees are often moving with the wind which can cause the string to snap. Preschoux created this piece titled '9 Colours' with the inspiration of lines, what began as paintings and then drawings soon turned into amazing art installations. Preschoux wanted to make something in a natural environment so he chose Auvers sur Oise forest in the north of Paris as his setting. The fact that it's in a forest in Paris makes it all the more beautiful wouldn't you say?. This piece took half a day to prepare it and over 20 hours to weave it. It may seem long and tedious to us, but this is actually Preschoux's most "simple" and quickest installation. Preshchoux says "There is no pre-work, all the work is made directly in the natural environment. I try to prepare them, but nature changes, you have to compose with it, and that's what I like about these installations. When I draw, I'm used to doing some pre-work, but in nature I'm like a kid in a school yard...I play!" The reason for creating an out door installations is that Preschoux liked "the contrast between nature and the geometrical shapes produced by the installations and their light and colors" and we couldn't agree more!
